I know, ‘Digital’ can be a tear-jerking word! But I’m here to show you the simple things you can do to either start your new online business or compliment your existing business with digital offers.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you were frustrated by the “ick factory” that occurs when you Google phrases like “passive income” or “WFH”?
Slogan:
- Entrepreneurs who cause a “fuss”.
- Cryptocurrency Guru
- Real estate investment “experts”.
- The sips and the flippers*
*People drinking champagne in an infinity pool, or worse, flipping “cash” in front of a fancy car or designer store!
This is not what the world of digital products or passive income should look like, and I’m going to throw in 30(ish) “free” ideas to make it so. You’ll skip the “gross factory” and go through Ideaville on the fun bus instead! (Yes, I felt you roll your eyes!)

Existing business owners should be encouraged to consider people who don’t already buy your stuff (because they can’t afford it, because of “logistics” or because they want to do it themselves). You will find that you can design a “thing” that is just perfect for them!
Just thinking about starting your own business? After that, you’ll leave with an idea that doesn’t require stashing £5,000 under your bed, turning your kitchen into a local Post Office branch, or working your fingers to the bone just to scrape up a pittance.
So, put your mind to this list and leave full of ideas for your first, next or last digital product that will put cash in the bank and time on the clock!
Take a slice
Coming up, I’ll introduce you to the MANY possibilities your business could enjoy – from affiliate marketing and print-on-demand, to subscription models and courses and everything in between. But let’s address the elephant in the room first shall we? Before you scoff at the idea of putting “another course” in the noise that is the “internet”, let me give you some counterintuitive facts:
Lesson: don’t dismiss this potentially lucrative cash cow that your new or existing business could benefit from just because of the scope of the negative hype (look what i did there!). There’s plenty of pie – grab a slice!
30 cool ideas to ponder
You can use the ideas here OR:
- Improve your existing business offers (give more with less)
- Create a whole new business from scratch (you should take a Rebel Business School course if you haven’t already)
To get to your ideas, (you know, the ones that best fit your values and what you love), we’ll focus on selling a solution. This solution will fall into one of three distinct categories:
- (Product) Sell a product as a solution
- (Information) Sell expertise as a solution
- (Facilitation / Hosting) Sell a community as a solution
Sell a product solution
If you already have a product-based business, ask yourself, “what else might my customers need from me?”
Use affiliate marketing, drop shipping or print on demand to get it to them!
E-commerce supported by:
- Affiliate marketing
- Amazon FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon)
- white label
- Print on demand
- Drop shipping
Instead of (or in addition to!) the traditional route to market:
- create product yourself
- find a supplier of your product/private label
- online market sales
Keep your customer at the front of your mind. What do they want or need and how can you provide it to them in the easiest way?
Sell a community solution
Find a community of people who need your help bringing them together and charge accordingly:
- Support (persistent problem)
- Community (sense of belonging)
- Discussion (discussion)
- Diagnosis (troubleshooting)
- Brain (solutions driven)
- Subscriptions (Community Driven)
- Subscriptions (Drip Feed)
Sell an expertise solution
Step 1: Package
You can package your expertise in many ways. As long as it is right for your customers, it will be sure-hit fire:
- Personally
- Pre-recorded (MP3/4)
- Digital live delivery
- Workshops / group lessons
- Tutorial / 1 to 1
- Written
- Graphic-lead
- Combined / Hybrid
This process can be referred to as ‘productive’. You are essentially creating a salable product from the ideas of your amazing brain!
Step 2: Delivery
You can then consider one of the many delivery methods and your solution. Mix and match these with packages above to create the perfect blend for you customers and the experience you want them to have:
- It is drip fed
- Subscription
- Process driven
- Subscriptions
- Content libraries
- Drag files
- Guides
- Books (print)
- Books (eBooks)
- Books (audio)
- Digital Downloads (Image / PDF / Video / Audio)
- Software as a Service (SaaS)
- Software with Service (SwaS)
What do your existing or potential customers want from you? How can you best offer it? What is more appropriate?
Now, put these ideas into action! I know you have some 🙂
