I know, I know. “Movies are subjective. There is no good or bad.” Pity me. There are no participation trophies in Hollywood. Some movies are great, some are trash, and most fall somewhere in between.
But some movies have been misclassified. Some movies have been called great by the majority, but they’re just (you might want to sit down for this one) Really Good? Several widely acclaimed films have caught the eye of the self-deprecating brigade.
1. Interstellar (2014)

Even before it hits theaters, every film directed by Christopher Nolan is labeled “great.” But some critical viewers feel that way Interstellar is the Apollo 11 of the movies—hailed as a great American achievement by many, dismissed by others as a high-budget spoof shot by a famous Hollywood director.
2. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Now that you mention it, the recent spate of movies that appear to be aimed at 14-year-olds but perform exceptionally well among adult critics seems odd. The Curious Case of a Dark, Gritty Thriller Dressed in a Superhero Suit (The Dark Knight, Logan) makes sense—these are adult films with serious cinematic cachet.
2. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

But why does the 68th Spider-Man film, which defies logic even more than the first 67th, have the same Rotten Tomatoes rating Dunkirk? Is this real life or a deleted scene from Privatization?
3. Pulp Fiction (1994)

Pulp Fiction, Cult Classic. There is no doubt that the legendary film is a first ballot Hall of Famer. One critic complains that Tarantino’s voice penetrates the film too strongly. But, to be fair, have you ever seen a Tarantino interview? The dude is intense.
4. John Wick (2014)

His plot John Wick: bam, poo!, blood spurts on camera, punches, bruises (broken bones), poo poo! Repeat. Those who appreciate optional movie elements such as plot, dialogue and less than four million shots are fast asleep after activation John Wick.
5. Everything Everywhere Everything At Once (2022)

One of the most talked about movies of 2022, Everything Everywhere Simultaneously garnered a lot of controversy, regardless of what its IMDb rating says. A pretzel viewer left the movie during the scene where “the guy was trying to jump bp-first.”
5. Everything Everywhere Everything At Once (2022)

It’s also a good time to change movies.
6. Midsummer (2019)

A movie with an exciting trailer and plenty of hype, Midsommar it was seen by many as visually flashy but ultimately shallow, filled with unlikable characters and disappointing. While some respond that the hateable characters are essential to the film’s plot, haters say that Midsommar is not Good.
7. Forrest Gump (1994)

While Forrest Gump has been a popular choice among moviegoers, I’ve included it on this list for a reason. This reason is to mention all the blasphemers who believe it Forrest Gump it is anything but an enjoyable masterpiece.
8. The Big Lebowski (1998)

The Big Lebowski is another film not on this list. I don’t mean to pull a bait and switch by including movies that is not overrated (eg Forrest Gump) but someone has to come The Big Lebowski’defense.
9. Star Wars (1977)

The Stuff Nerds in the Locker lobby apparently found their way onto social media. One can’t help but feel that the endless pounding of counter magnets disguised as Star Wars The spinoffs have also slightly spoiled the original films.
9. Star Wars (1977)

Time has not been kind to many sci-fi films made before 2000, and some say the original Star Wars The movies have grown too big for their intergalactic anchorages.
10. American Psycho (2000)

Christian Bale kills it in every role but those who aren’t his fans American psychopath let’s just say he took the killing way too literally in this gore fest flick.
10. American Psycho (2000)

Again, an American reviewer of Psycho said, “I mean I liked it, not gonna lie, I liked the character Patrick more than the movie itself.” OK manga.
