Lower than year of purchase to date. Algonquin and Aecon in particular hit us. Aecon should recover as business is good, they are just getting killed in projects listed before all this inflation. Algonquin I don’t know, I just hope they keep their water assets and change things.

October is a time to get excited about Halloween again. During this year we acquired more used animatronics. This year our facility was so big that it had to go into the backyard as well. The neighborhood kids loved it and so did I. Unfortunately disassembly is much less fun than installation.
I cheated this year for Movember and grew a beard all October in preparation. As always I love participating in Movember and rocking the stache. This year it’s a little closer as my dad has been battling prostate cancer and I’m happy to say that everything looks good now that he caught it early. Check things out guys! So you girls too…. Fu%k Cancer right?
If you want to support my mover, that would be very sweet of you. Hey, it feels good to give, it puts a smile on my face and it’s also a tax write off.. Win/win/win Robs Movember
Okay, let’s get to our September 2023 passive income

Total incremental income from dividend increases in 2023 – $15.08
We are finally in positive territory after that algonquin dividend cut earlier this year. Sweet…

Breaking 20k for 2023, very nice! It still amazes me that I get this. Just a few years ago we had no passive income. When I tell people about dividends it’s like $30-$80? This will not change my life. But that steady $30-$80 will increase. Don’t focus on short term, long term you will laugh..
October Stock Markets
CNR – Canadian National Railway. We added more shares to our existing position. This is one of my favorite companies we own and when it’s yielding over 2% it’s generally been a good time to buy. I added 9 more shares at a cost of $146.92 per share.
This purchase adds $28.44 in forward dividends.
Costco – We decided to add a grocery store to our portfolio. While costco is much more than that, food is its bread and butter. It’s not a cheap stock by any means, but the growth has been fantastic and I could see that continuing into the future. A simple increase in membership fees will boost their income and this will probably happen soon enough. We personally do not have a costco membership. Why; Because the place is very busy. I hate their parking and shopping there. That says a lot. Lots of room for growth in my opinion and our portfolio could use more growth.
We went the cdr route on this in our tfsa. I love that I don’t convert dollars and at $26 per unit the guys can, and they added it to their portfolio as well. We bought 46 shares at 25.83 per unit. That adds up to a whopping $8.79 in forward income.
In total we added $37.32 in future dividend income. Growth and high dividend growth this month.
Total added forward dividend income from purchases in 2023 – $1,031.40
Bitcoin
I have been buying bitcoins for a year now as I started in November last year. To say it was a great investment would be an understatement.
We decided to go with shakepay because it is regulated in Canada and you shake the phone everyday to get some free sats (bitcoins). They recently changed the way shaking sats are done. You get a certain amount per day now
A deposit of 100 dollars gives you 10 dollars and 10 for the referrer. Feel free to use my affiliate here if you are interested in trying out the crypto space. Or if you are a fan of the site and want to drop me some btc my Shaketag is @hutz8 – worth a shot =)
I appreciate the support.

Etf Monthly Minimum Purchase $250
- This month we added 4 more xaw etf units.
- Questrade* is great because it offers free etf trading and cheaper stock trading options than most Canadian brokers. $250.00 a month would kill us if we had to pay high transaction fees.
- * Please note that the questrade link is an affiliate link and at no extra cost to you, I would receive a small payment if you sign up. However, you could get $50 in free trades using my affiliate link.
We added a few bucks to get 4 xaw etf shares this month. =)
October 2023 Passive Income Conclusion
A great month overall. I am pleased with how the month went and that our portfolio is returning to positive year-over-year growth. Hope you all had a great month too.
Cheers
