This February, let’s relax and dive into their history. It is a celebration of love, collaboration and the seamless combination of personal and professional life that makes our team unique. Join us as we unfold Christiana and Galin’s inspiring journey and discover the magic that happens when work and love come together in perfect harmony. So, without further ado.
What brought you to FastComet and how did you decide to join our team?
Galina: Amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic, as we both began our job search, the thought of finding opportunities in separate fields dominated us. My curiosity has always gravitated towards the realm of IT and a passion was further ignited by a friend’s stories from the web hosting world. It felt like fate when the FastComet ad crossed our path, offering a beacon of hope and a shared venture we had never dared to dream of.

Christiana: Hearing Galin rave about web hosting, you’d think it was the latest hit. My world was about linguistics and translation, galaxies away from IT. Yet here he was, convincing me to jump into this unknown universe with him. So it was with a mixture of curiosity and trust – mostly in Galin’s unwavering faith in us – that I took that leap. And what a plot twist it turned out to be! Joining FastComet joined our paths in ways I never imagined and showed me the adventure of embracing the unexpected.
What motivates you to continue working here?
Galina: Before joining FastComet, I had yet to learn how vast the field of web hosting was and how many other spheres it intersects with. There is always something new to learn. there is always room for progress and growth, and I find that exciting. We also immediately felt welcome in the team and enjoyed the working environment. We can count on our colleagues if we need any help and we are always ready to help clients or colleagues if they need help.
Christiana: I also enjoy helping our customers if they feel stuck on a task or want to learn more about a particular topic. I love the pace of working on Live Chat sets, and it’s always rewarding to work with a client and watch the puzzle pieces of an issue click together, leading to a solution.
Besides, as I mentioned earlier, the web hosting industry was completely new to me and building my knowledge, developing new skills and applying them to my daily tasks has been very rewarding for me and the progress is extremely encouraging.
How do you support and motivate each other in your professional endeavors?
Galina: We are a great team and complement each other in our work process. When I’m working on a case, he can always come up with an idea to address problems I hadn’t thought of, and vice versa.
Christiana: Well, I’d rather say that we don’t always operate in a perfect symbiosis. We tend to have different opinions every now and then about the exact way to investigate a particular problem – which, admittedly, can lead to controversy. But that’s the price of working with someone you can talk to to filter.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?
Galina: In my spare time I enjoy volleyball and sketching. However, my biggest hobby has to be gaming. I especially like multiplayer games because they offer the opportunity to meet new people and start interesting conversations. One of my favorite activities after a long day at work is getting together with friends and playing together. The communication aspect is what I look forward to – no matter what we’re playing. Here is my battle station.

Christiana: I also rotate through a few different hobbies. I love to read, hit the gym from time to time and scrapbook when inspiration strikes. There is one, however, that I have been focusing on for the last six months – over the summer, I learned how to crochet for a bet, lost the bet, but it turned out that I like crochet, and then I took up knitting.

I’ve been through a summer crochet top phase, a stuffed toy phase, the stressed-out-knitting-Christmas-presents-for-all-my-friends-and-relatives phase, and right now, I’m halfway there for knitting my first pair of socks. There are so many things I want to make and I don’t always have the time, which often leads me to late night crafting sessions.
Can your hobbies be connected to your work at FastComet?
Christiana: Apart from sneaking in a bit of knitting during work breaks? I notice a significant parallel between the journeys of learning crafting and web hosting. I always found both fields interesting but too intimidating to tackle – until I actively started learning more about them. When you have a genuine interest in the subject, this theoretical intimidation disappears with practice.

The other common aspect between web hosting and fiber arts is that both fields offer endless opportunities for advancement. With both, you can never lie back and say to yourself, “This is it. there is nothing more to learn.’ – the digital world is constantly expanding and innovations occur in a similar way to how the fiber arts community is constantly coming up with new ideas and has different techniques in trend (on a much smaller scale compared to the IT world, obviously).
What do you admire most about each other personally and professionally?
Christiana: Professionally, what I admire most about Galin is his problem-solving superpower. It’s like having this built-in debugger for any situation, not just technical issues but life’s conundrums. Personally, it’s his unwavering patience. Trust me, not everyone can handle my ‘creative mess’ as gracefully as he can. Sometimes, I think he secretly enjoys it, though he’ll never admit it. His calmness in the face of my storm is something I not only admire but deeply adore.
Galina: Christiana wants something. I might have a little sympathy for her ‘creative chaos’. It keeps life interesting, after all! On a professional level, her quick adaptability amazes me. He dives into challenges with enthusiasm and comes out on top every time. It’s like watching a live masterclass with Rezili. And personally? Her warmth and kindness? This is my daily dose of inspiration. It has this uncanny ability to light up a room and lift everyone’s spirits, including mine.
What advice would you give other couples thinking about working together?
Galina: It’s not for everyone, but if it works for you and your partner, you’ll make an absolute dream team. So if you’re thinking about it, give it a try – at worst, you and your significant other will know what you’re doing not you like to do together, or at best, you will never have a dull day at work.
