It is not often that we are able to travel around the world. But to kick off 2024 the right way, our very own Marco Berrocal will be attending the Zaragoza WordCamp in Spain on January 19th and 20th. It will surely be an amazing experience for everyone.
And I have to say I’m kind of jealous. There is so much history to absorb and so many amazing sights both at WordCamp and in Spain in general.
This year, WordCamp is taking place at the Etopia Centro de Arte y Tecnologia (Etopia Art and Technology Center). It is a short distance from the river Ebro and conveniently located near the Zaragoza-Delicias train station.
What to expect at WordCamp Zaragoza 2024
In addition to the amazing location, there are a variety of sessions available at WordCamp this year. Like most other camps, it’s hard to decide which one is top priority.
This is probably the hardest part of attending these camps. Which talks do you want to attend in person when some of them are on different tracks at the same time?
So, here are some of the discussions that piqued my interest the most:
- SEO Audit: With WordPress at the top of Google
In this workshop, Eva Garcia Gallego provides 11 points of a basic SEO audit and how you can make them work for you to improve website search. - Google Tag Manager control from start to finish
Google Tag Manager can help you discover all kinds of data about your website. Carlos M Diaz Honorado describes how to use the tagging platform using the CVAE method and how it works. - Functional creativity with JetEngine
JetEngine is an elaborate development plugin for WordPress with many options. In this talk, Yannick Garcia Monguilod covers the features of JetEngine and how it works to get creative with your website. - You can also create a simple A/B testing plugin
Most platforms use an A/B testing methodology to find what works best. Alvaro Torres describes how you can create your own testing plugin without extensive programming knowledge. However, knowledge of basic HTML and CSS is a plus. - AI and WordPress: Where and How
Artificial Intelligence is a thriving platform. In this session, Fernando Puente provides solid examples of various products and services that use AI to improve WordPress as a whole.
This is just a short list of some of the awesome talks happening during this year’s Zaragoza WordCamp. And to top it all off, there are games and giveaways from various sponsors to close out the camp in addition to the planned After Party.
It’s sure to be a great time for everyone who attends.
Enlightening things around Zaragoza, Spain
If you’re in Europe or planning to travel to Spain for WordCamp, be sure to embrace all that the location has to offer. Keep in mind that Spain itself has a very long and rich history.
So what are some of the attractions in the Zaragoza area? Good…
- If you have time to explore, perhaps one of the most amazing sights is the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar en Zaragoza (Basilica of Our Lady of the Pilar). Begun in 1681, the cathedral is a testament to exquisite craftsmanship and is a stunningly beautiful site.
- If you like tastings and tapas, you can take a 3-hour tour of four Agagonises wines and four local tapas while walking through the ancient parts of the city. The exploration alone is worth the admission!
- If wine isn’t your thing, but you like to explore anyway, take a two-hour tour of the Palacio de la Aljafería (Aljaferia Palace), which was built over 1100 years ago! This is another location in Zaragoza with some of the most fascinating architecture that is both enchanting and unforgettable.
I could spend days looking at all that is available in the area. And if you’re visiting WordCamp, I hope you’ll take a moment to check out some of Spain’s spectacular sights.
Besides, some of the tours are only a few hours out of your day. Why not?
Have a great weekend in Zaragoza!
While you’re at WordCamp, don’t forget to stop by and say hi to Marco. He will be at our table at GreenGeeks ready to answer questions or just hang out and talk about WordPress in general.
I would like to take this moment to thank all the sponsors, organizers, volunteers and patrons who made WordCamp Zaragoza happen this year. It’s your support that makes these camps worthwhile and why WordPress has one of the best communities on Earth.
Enjoy your weekend in Zaragoza and don’t forget to take a few moments to breathe in the atmosphere. It’s an awe-inspiring site with plenty of history to uncover.
